Seems she has some free time on her hands and penned a letter to FL to shut down gun stores. Fifty seven other delegates and senators co-signed, all Ds.

“The ability of gun stores to remain open during this pandemic is worrisome for many Marylanders ... It is alarming to see Marylanders stockpiling weapons in such a state of emergency,” dozens of Democratic state lawmakers wrote Thursday in a letter to the Republican governor.

If she could control her voting base we wouldn’t have to worry about arming ourselves.

    1) this is another reason why I thought it was bad form for ranges to quickly say they're closing because they are "recreational". They provide a place to safely train with firearms (such as familiarizing a family member with a home defense gun or function testing a new firearm). As such, citizens don't lose the right to life-saving self-defense during a time of national or statewide emergency. Depriving them of the right to buy a firearm during a crisis puts them at even greater danger when law enforcement is overtaxed.

    2) many of the purchasers are new gun owners. Some may be Democrats (actual Democrats, not DINOs). What a fantastic bit of news to share with these prospective buyers. Atterbeary and other MGA Democrats want to deprive you of the right to self-defense because you can't be trusted to own a firearm.

Kind of demonstrates how hollow the support for Everytown and MDA is. Yes, MDA may have committed activists, but they aren't funding the effort. Without Bloomberg, their ability to lobby politicians would be limited. Those people buying guns are making a vote with their pocketbook.

Took me about half a minute. I was seriously confused as to why she was writing letters to Florida to shut down their gun stores.

Here is the actual letter. Not trying to be unduly critical of our legislators, but the letter seems rather poorly written. As to their reliance on MD Code Public Safety, 14-303, these legislators seemingly are of the opinion that Section 14-303 trumps the Second Amendment. That view is incorrect. See Bateman v. Perdue, 881 F.Supp.2d 709, 715-16 (E.D. N.C. 2012) (declaring that the NC counterpart to Section 14-303 was unconstitutional). Maybe the signatories to the letter should brush up on their constitutional law.

Sure close the gun stores as the number of police officers on the street decrease due to needing to be quarantined, I mean really what could go wrong.

Lighten up on the woman. She understands the increased risk to her constituency; can't have her voters killed when they're looting or conducting home invasions.

I'd like to see a list of DEMOCRAT Governors who'd favor a move like this.:sad20:

There’s a gun store within walking distance of her home. I was in there a couple of weeks ago and it was literally empty of long guns and most ammo. They had some handguns but of course a new shooter is banned from purchasing a handgun without an HQL and a seven day wait so self protection is unobtainable in a state of emergency. They were actually closing early because they had nothing to sell.

This will be fun to throw at her during session next year. Trying to interfere with people’s right to self defense when it is needed most acutely.
