This thread made me wonder how any rounds went through my fathers C&H H press. I think he bought it in the 50's and used it until he couldn't see to reload anymore (2007?).

Dillon is famous for their No BS Warranty - the customer support stories are legendary. You could be like, "yeah - I accidentally blew up my press with tannerite," and they'd be like, "Ok - box up the pieces and send them over with the $79.95 service fee." Then they'd send you a brand new press. That might be a slight exaggeration, but not by much.

    Not much.

My 650 is so old, it doesn't have the grease ports or fittings. I was told to box it up and send it in with the service fee, and they would send me a new one.

I called them to order some locator pins (among other things) that I told them I had flipped off an lost. They still insisted on sending them for free.

I have not had to contact RCBS or Lyman. But I have had similar service from Lee.

I even called them one time about the adjuster for the factory crimp die. I wanted to try to use it in my Dillon 650 with the counter. So I needed ones with a hole through them.

They actually machined holes in about 5 of them and sent them to me for free.

There are good companies out there. The official warranty is 5 years, unless its been obviously trashed/abused David Clark will repair/fix their headsets basically forever on their dime or charge a minimal service cost.

The 450 was discontiuned in 1983 and superseded by the 550, two months after I bought the 450. I later upgraded with their 550 press kit.

I broke the bell crank on my press. I called Dillon. After some Q & A the rep told me to not use CCI primers (my favorite at the time) because the primer cup material is so hard. They also told me to give the handle a little jab when the case contacts the primer, not the slow steady force I had been using as with a hand tool. They sent me a bell crank. I pressed the broken bell crank back to its original shape and asked the welding instructor to do his magic. He did and I still have it...just in case.

I was thinking of having one of our resident welders doing a heliarc job on it. Then again, I'm 70 I won't need it much past 10 more years.

Comforting to know you have that back up in case you have a ‘need it now’ moment. The repaired crank appears much stronger than the factory part. It may be intentional on Dillon’s effort to protect the press from excessive loads.
