I'm just going by the offerings on his site for .25 caliber in the 36 -38gn range.

Gotcha, not sure I would be trying to shoot slugs that heavy from the Avenger. From what I remember they can be cranked up in the low 50's fpe range. For a 36g slug that's low 800fps. Too low to get the benefit of slug (IMHO) Now if you go down to his 29g (dish) you're in the 900 fps range, or to the 26.8 and you're in the 920's or more. This seems to be where slugs shine.

Also, if your groups at 25 are just "so,so" don't worry, move out to 50. It seems that the slugs sometimes take a little more time to stabilize in flight and the groups are actually tighter at 50 then 25. I've seen several guys on the forums having theses results.

I haven't been able to chrony my Avenger and probably won't until spring. However I have done some penetration tests at 25 and accuracy tests at 50 yards. I can shoot through a 2x4 at 25 with a 33gn pellet but the 36 slug stops about 3/4 of the way through. At 50 yards the there is about 3/4 of an inch difference between the 33gn pellet and the slug. When I sectioned out the 2x4, I found the slug had expanded really well which is what I want so anything I kill is DRT.

If I am ambitious over the winter, I will take it apart and give it a full tune with opening the ports etc. It really is a great gun for the money.

    Thanks for the info John.
I’m going to try some in my nitro break barrel 22 and see how they work.
Looks like I’ll need to check exact diameter of my bore via pin quakes before ordering.

I would definitely check the bore size as I can notice a distinct difference between the .2515 and .254 slugs. You can probably stick a slug in the breakbarrel but it is easy to push them out if you have too. Good luck.
