I am looking for the best recommended place to purchase an already built AK and I thought this would be the best place to post. I apologize on the question since I am not actually trying to build an AK. Is it better to wait until prices settle down since everything seems to be sold out?

    Thanks,
    dre

Ya, good luck, your best bet at this time is to talk to your local gun dealer and ask them to get you something. You're gonna pay a serious premium. If it were me, I would probably buy a few VZ58 receivers, or I would get this:

    https://assaultweaponsofohio.net/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=59&product_id=113

Sure it's an AK action, in .308. :)

    Or this:

    https://assaultweaponsofohio.net/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=61_62&product_id=56

    and this:

    https://www.apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/cPath/51/products_id/3111

    http://50ae.net/vz58/

You won't find much better deals, the only reason AOO has anything is that they are not all that well known, it's the remnants of Ohio Rapid Fire. Unfortunately having to build you own might be the only reasonably priced way at this point!

VZ 58 already assembled, fix the stock later

    http://www.czechpoint-usa.com/products/rifles/762-x-39-mm/sa-vz-58-sporter-available-now/

    They also have AK receivers:

    https://assaultweaponsofohio.net/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=61&product_id=56

You might look on the AK forums too!

don't buy from assault weapons of ohio. they do NOT stand behind their product and WILL leave you high and dry WHEN, not if, you have a problem.

plenty of information regarding them on arfcom.

Go to your local gun dealer and ask them. They may even have some on consignment. Yes, prices are high, but if you really want one, buy it. You can also go to armslist and look. I've never purchased from there though, so I'm not too sure about the rules and regs.

Why, what happened, I don't frequent ARFCOM, but my receiver that I got from ORF was fine back in the day. AOO, although I did not purchase from them, was responsive to my emails.

Thanks for warning him though, I was unaware of the problems. I guess that kills any of the bright ideas I had... Everyone is practically sold out of anything decent.

I still think that if you can get your hands on a VZ-58, that will be a bargain by comparison.

Spotted this (and some like it on gun broker) it's not an AK, but for around the same money you can have a Polytech M14s: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=326702487

assault weapons of ohio != ohio rapid fire. not even close. a shame the owner of ORF drank himself to death (quite literally), because he ran a fantastic shop and put out some incredible stuff.

OP, best bet is to keep an eye on the k-var site and just buy a rifle from them when something that trips your fancy comes in stock.
