I have a Ruger .357 GP 100. Following a session of throwing couple hundred .38’s down range, in a few chambers I am unable to insert a .357 round.

Purchased a Pro-shot .38 steel chamber brush. With the chambers wet with Hoppes #9, the friggin chamber brush ended up getting stuck. Bitch of a time getting it out.

Only tried the one chamber, therefore the question, any words of wisdom?

EDIT: 28 Oct. bronze chamber brush's arrived tonight. Upon entering the chamber, bristles start to flex vs the stainless steel on viagra. They work as advertised.

I used to have Allison speed brush rigs when I shot 357/38 a lot in the same gun. I typically removed the crane with cylinder attached and soaked the whole works overnight. Brass brush on each tip let me clean all six chambers at once. Rarely much residue after a few strokes. Separate Allison rig with bore mops on it to get the crud out that the brushes loosened. For some reason I had a run of bullets that left extra evil crud rings. I solved the problem with a 9mm bronze brush wound with 0000 steel wool chucked in a drill.

Preferred soaking solution was eds red (you can make a lot for cheap) and I applied kroil to the brushes when cleaning.

Brownells sells stainless brushes specifically made for cylinders. You put on on a non rotating rod and twist to the right as you are going through the chamber. Do the same coming out and it won't unscrew.

I have them for .45 and .38 as I shoot lead all the time. One pass with the cylinder brush and its good to go.

Also if you can reload, just reload light .357 loads instead so you don’t get all that fouling and possible leading in the gap between the front of a 38spc case and the front of the chamber.
