Hello all,
I recently picked up a (well) used Dan Wesson ECO for a bit more than a song, I have a few other 1911's and am fairly familiar with the pattern.
For those who do not know the pistol is an aluminum frame officer size 1911 with a 3.5 inch bull barrel. Dan Wesson states they use all forged and milled parts.
Once I got rhe pistol I tore is down and noticed a bent hammer pin, and the grip safety is also bent at the tang (it looks like it took quite a fall, and landed on the right edge of the grip safety). I replaced the hammer pin with nighthawk parts. And took it out to fire a few rounds.
Good news it functioned perfectly with qinchester ranger and ball ammo. No malfunctions no issues.
When I went to clean it, it seemed the recoil spring was not as heavy as I expected and racking the slide it seems almost effortless. Due to the state of the pistol I would like to replace the recoil spring which is a flat coil spring. I have read they are wilsom combat springs bit I can not find a flat coil spring for a 3.5 barrel pistol.
I have also read that the flat springs are good to 15k rounds, and there is no way that many have gone through this gun but I am worried with the aluminum frame, wear on the pistol, and ease of working the slide that the spring if worn will cause undue wear on a fantastic carry piece.
Could someone either quell my fears of a worn spring or point me to a new spring?
TLDR; I would like to source a new factory replacement spring for a Dan Wesson ECO.
