    Hi,

Would this position allow for attaining a CCW permit?

I'm not sure deadly force would be required to set-up the Trap range speakers, load the trap, check target heights, or call the line hot/cold.

I do know there are/were a few RSO's that open carry, never seen concealed carry in my 40 years there.

Maryland does not specify open or concealed, it's just a Wear and Carry Permit.

Also, at almost every range, the RSOs are carrying now. Is it necessary? probably not. It's seems to be part of "gun normalization."

Besides, if someone is carrying concealed, how would you know?

Nah , this is MDS , that's only a mid level overlooking the inherent point .

But meanwhile - A RO would be double covered for carry w/o Permit . Both for being at a shooting range , and being a designated Supervisory Employee .

That's potentially under the law , I can not speak to AGC's internal policies .

Can't speak to agc policy as I don't shoot there but for myself I will not even consider a job connected to the firearms industry unless the business owner (not just a manager o supervisor) agrees to provide explicit written permission for me to be armed as I see fit while on the premises. This comes before discussion of hours, salary, etc. A written UOF policy is also a requirement.

The question is, would you give up that nice warm cab for walking a cold, sometimes wet, firing line.

Not now. The AGC had their chance to get me earlier. Now am no longer available for them this winter.

Sitting here enjoying the view. :)

Considering it's AGC. The position is definitely "no experience necessary".

"Years ago" it wasn't anything like it is today. In the "good old days" you got covered with glycol and froze your ass off. (even pilots when doing preflights at the gate where they used to do de icing.).

Now it looks like a comfortable profession.

Laugh away... I've had enough experiences see people carrying firearms to spot some. Not saying absolute, but looking belts, outlines, people adjusting holsters, wearing vests when it's 100 degrees etc.

An example, many moons ago I was in a restaurant right after Baltimore County police went from revolver to semi-auto, there by the door sit two guys with military style hair cuts, carrying fanny packs, that look like they had bricks in them. Subject one was giving instructions to subject two, in a court manner. It took above two seconds to I'D them as off duty police. Apparently officer survival wasn't a consideration for secondary employment. But I digress.

I don't want to derail this tread what my statement about concealed permit so I'll rephrase it. In the past 40 years I only remember seening two RSO's carry firearms. One guy use to dress up like a cowboy and carry a single action in a cross draw. The other carriers a polymer auto.

Good Luck in AGC's search for new help.
