If oil can be considered as a trigger accelerator, I guess I need to send in a letter to ATF requesting permission to keep a quart can of...ATF.

If you own ANY firearm in MD, yes, you need to send the letter for permission to keep the quart of ATF

    Good afternoon sir,

ATF's position regarding Maryland’s new law is posted on our public website in a Special Advisory issued by our Office of Public Affairs. I have included a hyperlink to the advisory for your convenience below.

    https://www.atf.gov/news/pr/maryland-law-restricting-rapid-fire-trigger-activators

I trust this advisory clarifies ATF’s authority, however please let us know if we can be of further assistance by contacting us at (202)648-7120 or FIPB@atf.gov.

    To whom it may concern,

I would like to apply with the BATFE for authorization to posses a rapid fire trigger activator as mandated by the state of Maryland before the October 1st 2018 deadline as to be in compliance with the new senate bill 707 written into law earlier this year.

    Thank you,

Just reading from the ATF link it basically states they won’t give permission, so why are we sending letters to them again?? Little confused as to what this letter will do for us.

Yesterday the judge stated that simply applying to The ATF keeps you legal until 10/1/2019. It will cost you a stamp and 5 minutes of your time.
If you previously sent a letter requesting permission, disregard.

This forum is seen by an incredibly small number of MD gun owners. I'd be surprised if ATF receives 50 letters, of which they will send back 0 approved letters. Then what.....

This is a tiny echo chamber. Most MD gun owners have no idea that a bump stock bill passed, hell probably didn't know one was introduced.

You are correct, I’ve talked to many gun owners that don’t have a clue about half the laws passed in this state and aren’t on any gun forum.

As stated no approval required. Only proof that you applied per the Federal Judge.

    Bet that frosted Frosh too!

My point is 99.9% of MD gun owners would not have sent in their letter by 10/1/2018. If oil and cleaning tools are to be considered "devices" than virtually every gun owner is breaking the law on 10/1/2018 and 99.9% have no idea.

So when is the MSP going to start going door to door arresting gun owners. I'd imagine all gun sales would need to stop too since effectively owning a firearm is illegal.

Which is why everyone should send a copy of the MSI link which explains what is going on to every Maryland gun owner they know or anyone they know who knows a Maryland gun owner. Do your friends a favor, keep them out of trouble.

And that is where the reach of social media comes into play. This has already been posted up on several prominent MD 2A related sites and folks are sharing it with their friends and family. And I'm sure that MSI will be forthcoming with an email blast and will have this info and the form available on their website.

We can all do our part by sharing this in whatever manner we can with those firearms owners we know that aren't on or don't know about MDS.

Social media sites they aren't apart of or don't want to be because they are scared of repercussions if it got out they were a gun owner. What about the next generation born after 10/1/2018?...they should have complied, the law is the law.

What I would like to see is ads run on TV, radio, and print after 10/1/2018 through the election informing all MD gun owners that they are breaking the law and will be prosecuted. Make it 100% clear that all gun owners are affected almost as a PSA from the State, Australian ban style. I want gun owners to be afraid and angry to get up at the very minimum and vote. We have the numbers.

Had a friend who was telling others that HQL was almost like a CCW Permit but only for maryland. I had to stop him there and sort him out on the spot.

Anyway - So I would need to submit this document in the mail to "protect myself" ?
