I’m an old dog wanting to learn some new tricks. I’ve built a few black powder rifles and I would like to go to the next step. I am interested in learning to do some basic stock carving such as scroll work and simple designs. Any body that can help an old guy out, give me a shout. I am located in Pasadena but will drive to meet you. Pm and I will give you my cell number.

I bought this book many years ago(Sam Fadala-Dale Story) that gives a rudimentary intro to both raised and incise carving. Certainly not the most comprehensive work on the matter but descriptive enough to give one a basic idea and first look of what tools are needed, beneficial materials as well as well depicted hands on-step by step instruction.

Also included are techniques for doing silver/brass ribbon scroll work + a ton of information regarding finishing, inlays stock-metal work etc.
Not mention other interesting topics for the do it yourselfer.
