How about a thread with the most excellent quotes?

I’ll begin with two quotes, both from the Wall Street Journal, both on June 27th, and both along the same vein of the importance of the issue of Supreme Court nominations in the upcoming elections:

So what larger lessons does Heller teach? First, the differing methods of interpretation employed by the majority and the dissent demonstrate why appointments to the Supreme Court are so important. In the future, we should be vetting Supreme Court nominees to see if they understand how Justice Scalia reasoned in Heller and if they are committed to doing the same.

Heller reveals the High Court at its best, upholding individual liberty as the Founders intended. Yet it is also precarious because the switch of a single Justice would have rendered the Second Amendment a nullity. With the next President likely to appoint as many as three Justices, the right to bear arms has been affirmed but still isn't safe.

Knowing who a president may appoint to the SC is much more important then the president themselves.
The Pres can only cause havoc for 4-8 years. A liberal SC judge can cause us pain for many many years to come.

Actually, I was just reading some of the comments on the ACLU site. The first several are pretty much hammering them. I printed off the list for my bus ride home later today. You can probably go directly there but I was on 'The other side of kim du toit' site that linked to it.
