in 38-55. I know where a used one is. I'm intrigued by this caliber for hunting. I'm going to look at it tomorrow and may buy it.

    Opinions?

Here is a link with some information,

As Jimbobborg stated the 1873 was not made in 38-55, the Model 1894 was and is a very desirable rifle in good condition.
Winchester did make some Model 94 commemoratives in 38-55, the Legendary Frontiersman for one, I have one and it's a great rifle in that caliber, here is a link to information on the 38-55, as with most rounds that originally were loaded with black powder the factory loads are mild but it can be loaded pretty stout for modern rifles.

And .38-55 was one of the original calibers for the 94 , back in 1894 . And it had a degree of popularity in the 94 pre WWII .

Yeah, I was mistaken and it's a 94. It was one of those commemorative guns and was too fancy for me. I just want a plain 94 in 38-55.
