  • I just ordered a Traditions kentucky pistol kit for the primitive weapons deer season. It comes with the normal dovetail rear and blade front sight. I would like a rear peep and front fiberoptic sight (,or a ghost ring rear)

    Has any ever tried such?

I never tried it but you used to be able to buy ramp rifle rear sights with a peep incorporated into the arrangement.
They may have been made by Williams or Marble or an off brand company and could be found in the Dixie catalogue.
There was a notch rear sight, buck-horn and then the one with the peep style that was sort of an aperture. They were stamped metal and maybe one model had an elevating disc instead of a slide.
You could probably find a Hi -viz front sight with a metric dovetail designed for a shot gun or import 22 or something.
Some of those import ML dovetails can be worked with a file to fit fractional sizes.
Brownells has Swiss files for making dovetails and they're expensive however they make short work out of making a nice dovetail.
I probably have fiber optic front sites salvaged off of CVA or traditions muzzle-loaders. Some of them may be cut to fit the hexagon barrel pattern found on the rifles. 13/16 I think. They would have to have a hole drilled and tapped for them to be fixed to the barrel though.
And their pretty tall so they would have to be shortened to work with a ramp rear sight.
