I've shot some bullets fast enough to cause them to spin apart, exceeding the RPM their structure/composition can withstand. Its quite impressive but not the desired result either.
Most manufactures don't list the RPM, just the twist rate (or faster) and typically "no maximum" speed. After emailing a few different places, they write back and forth with me and we determine that it's typically around 5-6k RPS before the bullets explode mid air.
I can't find the info on Nosler bullets and after waiting about 15 minutes on hold, they said to leave a message because they are out of office. I'm not sure what's up with the wait time if they are close but there you have it.
A bullet at 3700fps in a 1:14 twist is only 3,171 RPS, while the same bullet in a 1:10 twist is 4,440 RPS. Put that bullet in a fast twisting AR or something, and you might exceed the limit at 5,550 RPS.
So, the question is: Do you know the max RPM or RPS of a Nosler 40gr Trophy bullet?
