i have a couple pelican 1650's, a couple storm 2750's, a pelican 1750 and a storm 3300.
the 16-series likely is too tall, but not really wide/long enough, for firearms. you'd probably have to go with at least a 1700.
if you get a 1750 or a 3300, you can get additional "middle" foam pieces and custom-cut them for various firearm setups. a 3-pack of foam is 65 bucks with free shipping on amazon.

On a similar note, I was hoping someone could recommend a Pelican case to carry two rifles with no optics.... An AR and AK. The AR can become compact, the AK not so much.

1750 is the best all around option.
They are just so large.
I want to transport the gun separated into upper and lower to fit it into a small case that looks more like a general purpose equipment box rather than a firearm.
Better build an ar pistol or sbr then.

What AF said. Any hard case flat and rectangular is going to look like a rifle case. You could go with the cube shaped Pelican/Storm, but that would be a lot of wasted space and a pain to move around.
