Gun Confiscation Bill SB16 Withdrawn but Nearly Identical Bill HB961 Still Looming

    It's a start anyway!

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...confiscation-after-1000s-of-nra-members-show/

Virginia Democrats withdrew an AR-15 confiscation bill Monday after thousands of NRA members showed up to oppose new gun controls.

The NRA asked members to flood the January 13, 2020, Virginia Senate meetings and ensure pro-Second Amendment voices drowned out those calling for gun control.

Video from hallways outside the meetings showed NRA members responded en masse: https://twitter.com/NRA/status/1216702085498122240

The Washington Free Beacon reports the presence of thousands of NRA members “appeared to have an impact.” Democrats withdrew a bill aimed at AR-15 confiscation and moderated other gun control proposals.

But NRA-ILA Virginia state director Daniel Spiker made clear the changes, though good, were not enough.

He said, “While there were some improvements to some of these bills, overall, it’s still bad legislation. Putting in more regulations and making it more onerous on the law-abiding citizens of Virginia is not something we stand for.”

Richard Cosner, a Chester, Virginia, preacher, was present to oppose new gun controls.

He pointed out attempts to legislate gun control serve as a way to usurp the Constitution: “The Constitution is specific; it ‘shall not be infringed.’ If somebody wants to restrict those rights then they need to follow it by altering the Constitution, not by putting in place legislation that is in conflict with the Constitution.”

It's not over down there until freedom minded individuals turn the VA GA. The DemocRATS with their newly found power tried to bite off too much of the apple. If left unchecked, look for them to take a lesson from Maryland and shred the 2A piecemeal.

I actually think this is worse long term. They know that they can get by with by boiling the frog with their FSA style ban with grandfathering. One generation from now the only firearms in circulation will be your granddaddy’s over-under. Mission accomplished.

If they did a full ban, there would actually be consequences and gun owners might actually stand up for their civil rights.

Only saving grace for VA may be their 2A in their state constitution and hopefully their commonwealth supreme court isn’t stacked with leftists.

you'd think & hope with our federal 2a protection, AND virginia's similar rkba protection, none of this crap would be going on. but it definitely is.

you (op) should prob re-word your thread title so that folks don't see that and kick back and relax. they're just dropping one version to focus on another. awb is NOT off their agenda.

We have two fights (nationwide) on the legislative side but also with getting new blood to join our side. I go to a lot of shows and it’s clear that they will win by just waiting us out. Another 20-30 years and it will be smooth sailing.

Whatever the VA General Assembly doesn't get this year they'll be back for next year...they want it all but think long term. The only solution is for VA voters to turn the state red again...and for good.

... assuming this was a real idea. They may have thrown this out there and then retracted it to make what they do pass look reasonable. Whew!!! Except, not really

    This is my thought too^^^^^

The reality is that it's like a fight ....but
you have to win every single time
they only have to win once and you never get to fight that fight again.

Assuming they can, why did they let it turn blue in the first place? They are pretty lucky the left came out hard instead of the nickle and dime ******** that people seem to kinda barely take notice as long is it doesn't affect them.
