  • I just found and purchase a Hi-Point carbine chambered in 45 ACP. I have read where it is possible to modify or change the magazine catch to allow the use of standard 1911 magazines in place of the proprietary high point mag. Has anyone here attempted that and were you successful? If it works it's something I am interested in doing since the carbine only came with one magazine and I have a plethora of 1911 mags.

Reviews indicate that with the modified catch installed other calibers of 1911 mags will work with the carbine in that caliber.

A 1911 in 10mm and hipoint 1095 carbine modded to take 1911 mags could be a fun pair of toys.

But modifications will void the lifetime warranty. So why do it when the standard factory mags work just fine?

    Higher capacity aftermarket mags... :innocent0

I sent my monkey 995 in a couple years ago because the barrel was coming loose from the breech casting. I had slotted the plastic stock with my mill under the barrel so I could use my piccy mount and left them a note to not change it. They installed a new stock anyways...
