    he said "handgun" not hammer/nailgun

You get both for the cost of 1. ;)

For all the crap everyone loves to dump on them, they aren't that bad. And when it runs dry or craps the bed, you can beat someone into a coma with it... :D

I apologize for any possible thread jacking, but while we're on the subject of hi points, has anybody seen iraqveteran8888's hi point abuse videos on YouTube? Those things went through some major crap and still worked like a trooper. I just can't get over the fact that they look like they're made of lego's... And people sa glocks are block-y! lol

HAHA I'm crackin the hell up reading these. OP- it's like a deagle, a much crappier deagle that makes you feel like you just held up a liquor store when you shoot it. For the price you can't beat it though.

The S&W SD40VE is an improved Glock for just over $300, I highly recommend looking into that one.

That's a statement. Haha a glock copy better because of that video. Don't know how a smuck tlkn on YouTube proves a thing except that the longer he shows the pistol the uglier the frame and glare are

I always felt guilty shooting mine. Made sure no one could see me on the range, either....that said, it was pretty reliable.

LE trade in is where to be. Lou45 - Discount Shooters is SERIOUSLY a good deal. I am talking 35-45% off retail prices for near mint/lightly worn weapons. These are LE trade in, that means they were treated like the persons life was on the line.

My buddy got himself a weapon there that look like it may have seen 200 rounds. I just got myself a pistol(paperwork pending) that looks like it may have only gotten 400-500 rounds through it.

Great buys and awesome for introductions to pistols.

OH and the Colt .45LC six-shooters he had made my tingle in the nether regions...

The suggestion of a used model 10 is a really good one. A revolver is easier to learn on and the ammo is fairly cheap. Good luck.

To bring up the obvious, new shooter, looking to learn, did not mention active death threats in the first sentance.

A .22lr , and a cpl bricks of ammo. After 1,000 rds of semi-serious learning ( as opposed to random mag dumps) and he'll have a better idea what he'd like for his second pistol.

And the S&W SD series is an improvement on the Smegma. So it's a modest improvement over a very crappy knockoff of a Glock.

I wish Lou had an Iowa branch. I am jealous of all of the deals on good used LEO weapons he has.

OK, so if you want quality and built like a tank at a decent price. It's been said here so many times the answer should be clear. Find yourself a Decent Used Glock, I would not go down any smaller then a G19 for a new shooter. The G17 is great for learning, but in the real world, after the proper training, and by some small miracle the CCW waters part, a G19 is more practical.
