My brother swapped the regulator gauge out to the one from another gun. It has 100 psi graduations and is easier to read. I'll likely do the same on mine.

If anyone is interested pm me.

Have any of you heard about wood stocks being sold as an upgrade yet?

Has anyone set up and chrono'ed a power tune on their Avenger? I don't own a chrono yet but..

on a whim I bought a dueling tree for a .22 powder rifle. Just for kicks I popped a few slugs at it with my Avenger. With a (ProTune) I copied from a video (1800psi, 2.75 turns, 25.31 gr pellet, distance to tree-18yds), I was able to swing 5 of the 6 flaps. I'm gonna tinker and try to find a tune that reliably swings them all, hopefully at a farther distance.

My question for those with more experience than I: Given that the dueling tree is made for a rimfire .22, do you think I should just jump to a power tune? (2700psi, 5.5 turns)?

By all means do so. You can't hurt the steel and need all the momentum that you can get. It would be easier with a .25 but, if a 25gn pellet works in your gun, and you don't mind frequent fill ups, go for it!

I have my .22 Prod set for 800 FPS with a 18gn pellet as I wander with it and want to get as least 3 good mags from it. My Avenger I have set at 2900 and five turns since it doesn't get too far from my dive bottle.

That sounds like a good starting point. I tuned my 22 on my fx chronograph back in December but I can't remember the settings I used. I need to start emailing the shot strings to myself with the settings in the email for reference. The shot strings are in post 79 in this thread.

Just been talking to this guy who made a AR type platform for the Avenger. He knows his stuff about the material he used and it looks mighty nice. The main thing I like is that you can adjust the LOP to make it more comfortable. The only thing holding me back is the dang trigger on the Avenger. I was able to reduce the trigger pull by replacing the spring with a modified spring but it still has too much creep for my liking. I'm sure I could work on the bolt if I wanted too but the complete receiver has to be disassembled to get to it and parts availability is spotty these days.

John - it's pretty easy to get that creep out of the Avenger. You just need 2 longer screws. I did it to mine. I think they are M4 or maybe M5.

Great news! I ran over to Ace Hardware today and scored some 5mm allen head machine screws and nuts. I had already changed the springs for the trigger and sear (I have a million springs left from when I had my gunsmithing business) just after I bought the rifle. With the standard adjusting bolts, I made it acceptable but it still had too much creep for me.

Well, after changing the adjusting screws, I was able to experiment moving them this way and that and was able to set it to 15 ounces that will hold with a bump on the floor. It is crisp while sitting in my gunsmith chair with no air in the cylinder. Tomorrow I will fill it up and see where is falls out when I am in position and squeezing it slowly. I have found that I can make a great trigger in the shop but, until I get it on target, I can't be sure it is as good as it should be.

In any case, it looks like I will be springing for the chassis kit that I mentioned earlier. WAHOOO! :party29:

Great - glad to help. Hope it's as good on the bench!

Well, Crap. After maybe shooting it about dozen times, it has developed a leak. Of course I bought it in July of last year...and it's August..so the one year warranty is up...convenient. I pump it up and after a few days it is down to about 1000psi.

Try lubing the regulator and air release valve with some silicone oil and see if that helps.

It's probably the check valve in your fill. Remove the fill cover and pace a small balloon over the foster. If it fills up it's leaking there. You can also put a couple drops of liquid soap in a glass of water and mix it up. Dab a bit on the fitting and look for bubbles.
Easy fix. Degas, remove the poster fitting and replace the oring.
