Legal definition (partial)
The consignee acts as an agent on behalf of the consignor, a principal, in selling the goods and must take reasonable care of them while in his or her possession. The consignor does not give up ownership of the goods until their sale.
There's logic, and there's law

3 days on a consignment. Ask an FFL. You think I'm making this stuff up.

Because there are no new rules and the wait time is and has been 7 days for decades.

Some changes 1 Jan 2020. Not a Pawn Shop (type 02 lisense) so not up on what changed. But addressed on this page.

There has been no change in law or regulations.

I dont think that the rules are new, I think that they are being enforced. As in perhaps some dealers were sliding.

I am not sure about the 3 day wait thing either. Where do I find that in law or regulation? I think its 7 as stated earlier.

Not being a Pawn shop would have thought 7 days but even MSP link provided discusses 3 days.

Might be some relation to max time on NICS is 3 days. At 3 Days FFL can transfer gun without a response. Not sure if some tie into consignee is already owner. Not a pawn shop nor 02 lisence so something I don't deal.wirh.

That memo is confusing. It basically says "up to" 3 days but most NICS checks will be processed same day.

is as clear as mud. It says MSPLD will process something (but not exactly what) within 3 days, but it doesn't say anything about the 7 day wait being changed - normal confusion from MSPLD.

I didn't know consignments were handled the same as pawns and sales. That sucks. I will never put anything on consignment.

Next consignment will be a glossy 8x10 of the item.

Asked but not answered, is there a fee for the jail-break?
