I've been listening to my scanner quite a bit lately. I scan MoCo upcounty, and Maryland State Police out of Rockville barracks.

Generally, police radio traffic sounds like it is down by over 80%. Traffic stops are almost nonexistent. Most calls are for person-on-person crimes, domestic violence and such. Little property crime. Eerily quiet.

Are criminals hunkering down, or is enforcement down?

There is not a lot of traffic out there (like there used to be in to 70's and 80's) but I renewed my interest in them just for the Interstates. Truckers out there are still using them.

It's just a cool throwback gadget to have in your car/truck, if you have the space for it. It took me quite a time/head scratching to figure out how to install a full sized CB unit in my 'Taco. I ended up fabricating a customized mounting plate for it on the forward right side of my center console. It's rock solid, the angle is optimal for viewing the digital display, and it doesn't encroach on the passenger's side as much as one would think from the photo.

I have my Ranger mike hanging from the roof console. Easy to grab and the cord stays out of the way.

Here's some more kits. Nothing elaborate but if you want to practice your soldering skills...

Once upon a time, I worked part time with a ANG airman from the 175th and heard some interesting antidotes from him.

Word on the street is some pilot hit some pine trees with his a-10. Did you ever hear that from your time in?
