An expensive addition for cases that stretch, is the RCBS X die. Much cheaper than a Dillon case trimmer and, if used in the same rifle, it works pretty good. I have one for my .223, 30-30 and .8x57.
Unless brass prices shot through the roof when I wasn't looking, you can usually hunt up 1000x 9mm cases for about $30. Personally, I'd rather pay a bit to be able to keep cranking than try to play the "find more brass cases on the ground" game.I was prepared to load another 600 9mm this weekend I got about 140 done and went to grab another can of cases. Doh...they were .40cal that I thought were 9mm. I cant believe it but I’ve got about 1600 pills, plenty of primers and powder but I’m all out of 9mm cases. I might have to beg shooters at AGC this weekend to let me sweep up their spent shells.
I just finished load testing some 38 Spl 148gn HBWC from the few bullets I have left. I shoot these out of a 1851 Colt with a conversion cylinder on it. I found that 3 grains of Titegroup or 3.8 grains of Unique will give me a 1 1/2 inch group off the bench at 20 yards. That's saying something considering the bullet has to bump up from .358 to .380 when it hits the barrel.
Over the last week put together enough .223 to fill my current inventory of ammo boxes in which it is stored.
Over the last month, completed filling all of the .38 special, 9x25 Tokarev, 9mm, and 9x18 Makarov ammo boxes except two for which brass is lacking.
Looking in my handload cabinet gives me a good feeling, now.
Loaded a batch of 7.62x54R to ladder test for my M-44 last night.
This is the first time since beginning this hobby that I can say, I am completely caught up. Must be time to ad a couple more calibers!

(The pro-gamer move is to simply pick over the action shooting bays the afternoon after outlaw steel or multi-gun.)
