Bass pro and Walmart ammo report

I cross posted from reloading as some folks may be interested.

I went to Bass Pro this morning to buy 2 pounds of Red Dot. I was about 20th in line to get in at about 0840. By 0900, the line had grown to about 75. I walked as fast as I could to the gun counter (bad back and old age keep me from running) and managed to grab the number six tag.

I waited 35 minutes until I was able to buy my powder. This time, the guy wrote it up in a book. The last time I was there, in November, no one wrote it up. Go figure. By the time I left the store, the numbers were up to 85. One guy said he waited 3.5 hours yesterday to buy a gun and he was there to buy another today! Damn Obungo is passing Clinton as the best gun salesman ever.

BTW, they have less powder than usual as noted by what empties are on the shelf. If they are out of that type of powder, they take the empty down. Also, the .22 section was cleaned out except for some .22 Mags and some wooden box Bass Pro promotions.

Also stopped by Walmart on Claus drive and found it's ammo shelves pretty empty too.

Regards,

John

Sadly, your report is typical of what is happening everywhere.

Walmart had some 555 left

Walmart had about five packs of 555 located in the side cabinet at the Claus store after I bought my two.

Regards,

John

Shockingly, the Owings Mills Walmart has CCI "tactical" 22LR bulk packs in stock. They now have 8 left in stock.

Is 7.62 x 39 123 grain difficult to find? Walmart in Eldersburg had 3 boxes of 40 for like 29 something/box.

Sadly, everywhere you go these days looks like it has been looted. In the past two weeks I've been to at least 6 gun shops, 2 Dick's stores and 2 Walmarts and Old Mother Hubbard had better looking shelves than nearly all of them. I'm not doing too bad with picking up a few odds-and-ends online, but the madness is quickly enveloping even the E-tailers. The best thing to do is just try to stay calm and hope the madness subsides.
