One thing i can add is that when I run a cap through an empty gun at the range (required at my range) I take the patch that I ran down the barrel and just leave it inserted into the tip of the muzzle. When running that clearing cap the part he should shoot out. That will tell you the path is clear and the difference between a blocked path or a contaminant issue. I run real black powder and don’t have any ignition issues. This is with Lyman Great Plains rifle. BTW usb bore scopes are cheap and can be helpful to inspect things down there or to just get a better understanding of what your breech looks like.
