If you ever wanted to see the calculations/arithmetic to prove barrel harmonics they were made available in 1927 in one of the war office publications.
Good stuff for a math junky.
Because I'm not that smart I just look at the pictures. :o
(good 22 info in there as well).

I have an originals 60’s 10/22 with iron gold dot front sight. Can shoot golf balls all day long at 75 yards. I would dare not add a scope to it but rather buy a newer one and scope it out trigger mod ect.
The first run of 10/22’s are very accurate in my experience.

My Buddy has a 10/22, but he had to upgrade the stock and the trigger before he could get his grouping good enough at 100 yards.

I just got back from montana and my buddy had just purchased a new 10/22. Out of the box with open sights were took headshots on gophers (they tear up the ground) from 50+ yards. I was pretty impressed.

They are not precision rimfires but they can be built to be pretty accurate. Definitely not benchrest rimfires either. I have 9 .22lr rifles, 8 semis and one lever-gun. 3 are 10/22s. I like them for speed shooting myself.

The cool thing about 10/22 rifles is...if you get bored tinkering with AR's, they are as easy and as much fun to mod.

These guys make some excellent parts if you're so inclined:

I'll have to say there has been many a gun show I have gone to and held a tricked out 10/22 in $1K+ range and damn near bought it on the spot. Maybe one day. I actually have a plain Jane 10/22 in a FAB Defense stock that's pretty decent and a lot of fun to shoot. The barrel shown in the picture, although threaded had so-so accuracy so I re-installed the factory barrel. Not a match rifle but good enough.

OP, it depends on which factory 10/22 you are talking about.

I had a 10/22 target tactical with Rugers 16" factory hammer forged bull barrel, which shot 2 MOA at 100 yards consistantly with American Eagle AE22 38gr HP

I have shot a friend's stock 10/22 bottom of the range carbine and it struggles to print 4MOA at 100
