I just picked up a Sears Model 53, in 243 Winchester.
It's a Winchester model 70 made for sears. I'm trying to get a guesstimate on the age. It's in very good shape and I don't think it was shot much. From my internet searching I found out that they were marked "Ted Williams" up until about 1976 and that Sears stopped selling rifles in 1984. I'm not sure I 100% believe those dates but who knows?I'm just looking for verification that those dates are correct and maybe if anyone knows a source that I could look up the serial number to see when it was made.

Now all I need is to pick up a scope for it and then try to scour the globe for ammuntion!
