I heard a lot of good talking about them. The guy is in Slovenia and I am signed up on the Cast Bullets for a hollow point mold but that is looking to take a long time. I wanted a big cast bullet for 9mm. Momma said she likes them 147 grain bullets. I bought the one below and was about $110 with shipping https://www.mp-molds.com/product/9mm-38-147-rn-bb-6-cav-brass-mold/ I think Fedex was $20.50 and UPS $25

So I ordered the 358 9mm RP BB mold in 6 cavity. I ordered it at 7:13 AM and got a "Order completed" at 7:26 and 7:29 Fedex label made and shortly later FedEx has it in route. Pretty close to be packaged for shipment in 15 minutes from being ordered.

Anyone else used them yet? I didn't get anything for a search on this forum.

They have a good reputation, and I'll eventually get some of theirs. The only comment that I would have is that your new 6 cavity brass mold is going to be much heavier than you've been accustomed to with the 6cav Lee aluminum molds. Let us know how it works for you!

I heard good things about them. I like how they implement the sprue lever release cam for their 5+ cavity molds, similar to the lee molds.

Have a bunch of MiHec brass molds, Just about all with Penta Points or All the
pins, Shoot a lot of his H&G 68 clone bullets, His penta point 44 cal mold has
one huge hollow point (crater). Picked up a few of his molds handles (group buy).
Anyway his molds are works of art, the workmanship is great. Waiting on some
group buys to close (no hurry) I'm a member of Castboolits forum and always
check for new molds in the process. There's a guy I know that must have about
30 to 40 of his molds all types. I personally think the 6 gang mold is gonna be
heavier than you realize. Just a thought.

waiting on these to close, like I said no hurry, have plenty to play with.

Another MiHec multiple mold owner great molds. He actually listens to his customers input and is also creative himself (imagine hollow point molds with a choice of several different hollows or no hollow point all in the same mold). Great workmanship, top customer service, reasonable prices,....... highly recommended.

Man, I can't just do 12 oz curls with the right hand. I need a heavy mold in the left hand so I don't have the arms looking like a single man! ;) I'm not casting all day. I bet I can run 500 in an hour and the pot will get empty fast enough for breaks.

I purchased the mold with the different pins, I would say quality is pretty good and I have no complaints.

I’m no expert though, but it was nicer than my lee dies.

I use the Lee and NOE aluminum molds as the weight difference makes it less painful to my arthritic hands. I started making bullets as a boy using Lyman, Ideal and SAECO two cabity molds. I progressed to SAECO and Lyman gang molds during mid life but have to use the aluminum now.

I ran this one yesterday and this morning. The brass seems a bit different to get used too. I think it holds heat better/longer. I casted about a pint yesterday before lunch and then going to fast I smeared the top of the mold and sprue plate. It was hot and I just quit as I am off this week between jobs. So I went out today and heated the mold on the hot plate and then took the torch to the sprue plate and once the lead looked melted I wiped with a 2 cycle oiled rag. Both sides and it looked beautiful. Then took the torch to the mold. The 2nd an 3rd cavity still look brown where the smear was and all the lead came off. Casted another pint of 147 grain bullets and cleaned the mold with the oily rag while hot. Had to lightly torch the sprue and a bit heavier inside the mold. 2 cavities had some clinging lead on the fill out lines. Torched them and wiped it out with the oily rags. All cleaned up and cooling down to go back into the box I made to store the mold.

I really like the MP mold, The only complaint I could have is the having to make a box to put it in for storage. Maybe there is a plastic case that will fit them, but I cut an amazon box all up to fold glue and staple with a closing top to store it without possibly dinging it.

John, The weight did not bother me. A first I think I have some arthritis in my thumbs from years of working hard. My left thumb started cramping. Then I used a scrap 2x3 piece to rest the mold on after pouring for 20 -30 seconds to let it setup good so I didn't get any more smearing. It ran much better, no smearing and no tired hands.

I always run two gang molds at one time to avoid lead smearing. Brass does hold heat longer so you don't need a hot plate to keep it up to temp when you are using two molds. I try to run my pot at 700-725 so I don't get any shrinkage. If I haven't been molding in a while, it usually takes me about an hour to get the pot, hot plate and molds in sync. I usually limit my casting to two hours with a break in between to keep my wrists and shoulders from hurting too much.

I do the same as John and run two molds at a time to give the molds time to cool a bit as you get cranking. The brass does hold heat better than aluminum and I really like what the MP molds produce, but you do have to be conscious of the weight, especially a 6 or 8 gang brass mold. They are pretty heavy!

I use a hot plate to get the molds up to temp to start, but a few pours really gets them where they want to be and when one starts to get a little hot, I just set it on the bench and move to the next mold and repeat til your arm falls off... or just a little before that, hopefully.

Sounds like the same procedure I use. I put a piece of sheet aluminum on the bench after so many burn marks.

It seems I needed the hot plate to pour the MP mold. I started with the brass mold cold and the lead setup on the sprue plate and I got nothing but little balls in the mold. Once using the hot plate I was able to get lead into the mold and get wrinkled bullets and poor base fill out a couple times before I could start quenching some. I guess the longer to hold heat also equates to longer and harder to heat up also.

I still every once in a while got one bullet that did not get a base fill out. Always seemed to be one of the 4 in the center and varies on which one. Could not put my finger on why, but after sorting I only had maybe 20 out of a pint jar to go back into the casting pot to be setup back into ingots

Oh yeah, also I did a review on the mold and Miha's site sent me a 5% discount code on my next mold order. I wonder if I can use that on the 359 HP group buy? ;)

I'm throwing my hat into the ring and ordered 5 molds from MP. They are due on Monday, having shipped this past Thursday. I've been waiting for their 525gr WAD Sabot Slug mold to come back in stock for 6 months so I finally placed the order. If anyone ever wants to try one out and in the area, just let me know.

Mostly I'm casting for shotgun Buck/Slug, but I do cast .311 for both AK and 300BO as well as 458socom. I have some 50cal plastic sabot for 12ga that I'll be testing also.

MP 12Ga 525 - Full bore slug mold

    MP 12Ga 525 - WAD slug, 2 cavity mold

MP 502-390 Pointy mold, 4 cavities Plain base

MP 311-410 HP mold, 4 cavities Plain base

Round ball .320, 8 cavity AL mold (#0 Buck)

One of the best things I did was take a chance on their .25 cal Hi Press air gun mold. It is made similar to a .22 long rifle bullet unlike the commercial 'slugs' as they are called. It took a while to find out what pressure it likes ( Hi) but the down range accuracy and ballistics are much better than the commercial stuff and light years past the standard Diablo pellet.

I also have 8 cavity molds for 9mm and 300 BO. I am thinking about getting one for 300 BO subs but need to research it more.
