Got my Vortex Viper PST GEN II 1-6x24 today, along with a Vortex cantilever mount. The scope is bigger than I though it would be. First impression looking through it; very, very sharp and clear. The red dot is effective. I like that every other position on the red dot turns it off so you don't have to rotate through the whole thing to get to your setting.

How is this working out for you so far? All it’s hyped up to be?

BUT it was nice zeroing a FFP scope, measured the shots using the MRAD reticle. Made the clicks. Boom zero'd. Magic.

Never buying an MOA scope again.

That is because of the ZFFP, NOT the mrad.

As long as the turrets and reticle match units you can do this.

But even easier is to fire a round, then using a rest/sandbags, center the reticle on the point of aim, and the dialing it over to the bullet hole. Done.

    No counting anything.

No, this works with a SFP scope with MRAD reticle as well. The MRAD reticle in a SFP scope will only work at 1 specific magnification (probably the MAX). At any other mag it will be off.

...and yeah this works with a MOA reticle as well (whether FFP or SFP).

EDIT: In hindsight, everything I like about MRAD can be done with a modern MOA reticle, which I have never actually used. I suppose you can take back everything I said... except learning how to use MRAD for man sized range estimation. I guess learning has occurred. MRAD was the new hotness a while back and I never really thought about a modern MOA reticle vs an MRAD reticle.

You can also range with a MOA reticle.

And true, you can do it with SFP, IF you are the proper magnification.

But again, no need to count marks and clicks. Center on point of aim, and while looking though the scope, dial the reticle to the bullet hole. DONE.

Crimson Trace 1-5x24, 30mm, FFP MRAD is an option.

    Info from Midway USA:
    https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1020619158

I just bought this exact scope, paid $325 shipped (used) and zero'd it yesterday for the first time.

Here is the for sale ad on arfcom:
    https://www.ar15.com/forums/Equipment-Exchange/Crimson-Trace-CTL-3105-1-5x24-ffp-sr3/163-2181640/

Why would you want this used scope for $325-$350 you ask?

First, these are made in Japan. Think of these as similar but not quite equal to Bushnell Tactical Elite 1-5x scopes. For $325, your options are new Primary Arms scopes or other Chinese made scopes in SFP. The Primary Arms 1-6x in FFP is $400, made in China.

Second, these were $700-800 new and then Crimson Trace cancelled this whole line and blew these out at $350-400. I believe the new Crimson Scopes are made in the Philippines, not a bad thing, but folks agree the Japanese glass is better.

I don't think these are worth $700 but are great optics for $350.
