Picked up a Benjamin discovery 177 and pump for 100 bucks which I thought was a pretty good deal. My question to myself is why did I wait to long to get into a pcp? I know it’s a budget rifle in the pcp world but this thing is downright powerful and accurate.

I still love my trusty RWS 34 but it’s accuracy is depending on a lot of different factors including how you hold it.

My only gripe on the discovery is it’s cheap plastic trigger. Other than that it has shot ever pellet I have plenty minute of squirrel accurate out to 40 yards. Does have quite a report to it too but I’m seeing that a “moderator” would help with that.

Congrats, that was a Nice Find for sure. I always dream of coming across such finds, but never actually seem to do so..

Once you get a PCP you'll never look back. I've had a BB gun or pellet rifle since I was 8. If I'd had a PCP back then squirrels and starlings would be almost extinct. When you get tired of pumping there are lots of options for air.

That’s a smoking good deal. I’ve been tossing around getting a PCP, I don’t mind the break barrels too much but it would be nice to tank fill and just focus on shooting. Plus my little guy still doesn’t have the arm strength for the break barrel, though it is comical watching him try.

For the noise, a moderator and using heavy pellets (to keep it subsonic) will help. I really like the DonnyFL stuff but it is pricy for an entry-level PCP. I believe that TKO also has lower cost moderators for the discovery. I recommend that you get one size larger than your gun (.22 for a .177) to make sure that you won't have any baffle strikes.

If you have access to a 3d printer, you can probably find a design to print that will work.

Threads a little on the old side, but I have a fleet of printers and hook people up with printing as long as they cover the exact cost of filament, which is usually pretty cheap. One of these would probably be in the $2-$3 range.

I've uploaded a few more designs to Thingiverse too. If things need small mods, I'm usually willing to do it to fit more airguns.

    Nice designs.
May have to try a few on my ender 3 now that I have “mostly” figured out what tweaks to make when prints don’t go as planed.
    Thanks
