Lugers meet the import criteria and one I am targeting is the Finnish Prison Luger. Being it is not military I should be able to get away with no import mark.

Man those are nice. Is this something “anyone” can do? I’m a small time collector that loves to shoot these old guns. I don’t have a big collection but would like to keep growing but the prices these days are getting up there. Any tips on how the average Joe could gain access to that market?

Thinking about it, I wonder if we could get the ATF Import Points business revoked for C&R items. That legislation is an implementation of the Gun Control Act of 1968, which is, after all, now 51 years old. I think we can make a sound case that a C&R firearm that would fail to meet the "sporting" criteria is too old, and of too small a caliber, to be of interest to anyone except collectors.

I am an accumulator more than an
    informed and disciplined collector.
Spent lottsa time overseas, but never even considered bringing home any firearms.
So, forgive me for asking, but we can’t
bring US military stuff back -
but CAN bring back Mausers, Lugers, etc.?

Correct, but you can only bring back yourself antiques. Any other military firearm has to go through FFL08

Here are some Hungarians all 91/30 aka 48.M except the rare little trainer. I'll post up some more pics tomorrow. Some of the best for last including 1909 Peruvians with matching bolts.

Beautiful rifles. I have seen quite a few Hungarian M44's, but have not seen any 91/30's.

Picked up my import from Finland last week. Tried to take an artistic pic, but I'm not much of an artist. All pistols in large circle were part of import, except 1918 U.S. Colt 1911 and 1944 Remington Rand 1911a1, used them to complete circle. Also made a Lahti L-35 (all part of import) and 1911 + Ballester Molina circles; only 1942 Kongsberg and 1916 Russian Colt 1911 were part of import.

Impressive is an understatement. In awe of the patience and persistence it had to take to coordinate all of this.
Thank you. It does take a lot of persistence, patience, conversations, and pushing people a little to get their end done. It is a huge relief when they are in hand. There is a decent amount that can go wrong.
