Gun owners should be aware of the propaganda being spread by the MSM. You need to occasionally pay attention to what they are saying in order to be prepared so you can counter the lies and half truths. Remember that schools no longer are teaching Critical Thinking so many poorly informed will believe stories like these are true.

Take a few minutes to read these and think about the underlying message they are promoting. The spirit of Joseph Goebbels is alive and propagandizing in the MSM today.

The first is from FiveThirtyEight a part of ABC News Internet Ventures.

The next is from The Washington Post funny it is not behind their paywall like their "news stories" are.

Seems to be a full-court-press on "gun violence" in the MSM recently. I have to believe it's not a coincidence what with Chipman's nomination in-progress and the BAFTE pushing out rules changes ... must rally support from low-information voters.

2020: Mostly peaceful protests and a few white supremacy supporters showing up with guns

2021: Gun violence erupts across the nation

Funny how when you eliminate policing, violence of all kinds, including gun violence, goes up. Who'd have thunk it?

The obvious solution is to disarm the entire populace, or at least those law abiding types who are willing to be disarmed... because they are law abiding and will comply.

Then, the police can focus on disarming the lawbreakers.

    Yeah, that's the ticket.

    Oh, wait.

Huh, since yesterday Youtube has slapped an age restriction on the video I linked. It's an ABC News story that [presumably] meets FCC broadcast standards. "Inappropriate content"? My ass ...

I don't exactly know how the MSM is expected to beat the drum of eruptive gun-violence erupting across the nation if folks can't choke-down the rich multimedia experience. You can't expect folks to cower in fear if they can't access the terrifying information, right?

Oh, and I heard another "eruption of gun-violence" story on the radio during this morning's commute. I feel like I'm watching The Wiz, where they're changing from Red to Green on the Wiz's whim. "Insurrection" is sooo yesterday. Today it's "eruption of gun-violence."

More evidence of Gell-Mann amnesia effect?

In a speech in 2002, Crichton coined the term Gell-Mann amnesia effect, after physicist Murray Gell-Mann. He used this term to describe the phenomenon of experts believing news articles on topics outside of their fields of expertise, even after acknowledging that articles written in the same publication that are within the experts' fields of expertise are error-ridden and full of misunderstanding:[142]

Media carries with it a credibility that is totally undeserved. You have all experienced this, in what I call the Murray Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. (I refer to it by this name because I once discussed it with Murray Gell-Mann, and by dropping a famous name I imply greater importance to myself, and to the effect, than it would otherwise have.)

Briefly stated, the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect is as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well. In Murray's case, physics. In mine, show business. You read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward—reversing cause and effect. I call these the "wet streets cause rain" stories. Paper's full of them.

In any case, you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story, and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about Palestine than the baloney you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

That is the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. I'd point out it does not operate in other arenas of life. In ordinary life, if somebody consistently exaggerates or lies to you, you soon discount everything they say. In court, there is the legal doctrine of falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus, which means untruthful in one part, untruthful in all. But when it comes to the media, we believe against evidence that it is probably worth our time to read other parts of the paper. When, in fact, it almost certainly isn't. The only possible explanation for our behavior is amnesia.

As a scientist, I can speak with authority that this phenomenon is frequent and factual. It hurts to see my colleagues who wouldn't believe a word about biochemistry think that the absolute trash in the newspaper is to be believed.
