Thank Dems for turning this country into a 3rd world shit hole. It’s become like a public toilet, anyone and everyone is welcome to come in and take a huge dump.

You do not know how correct you are sir. Let me just say this is from a personal connection to a park service employee. The Bill Burton fishing pier is a "state park" made from the old drawbridge for rt 50 over the Choptank River from Trappe to Cambridge. The pier is closed off at each end with a locked chain-link fence. It is unlocked during daylight hours for fishing. The are picnic tables, trash cans and porta pottys spaced along both spans. Nevertheless, the visitors to the pier, besides taking undersized and/or out of season fish, routinely literally trash the pier. Picnic tables have fish guts, dirty diapers, fried chicken bones and other trash on them. Cigarette butts are everywhere and since they are considered a hazard to wildlife, they must be picked up by (gloved) hand. People are nasty.

There was talk a couple years back of putting a fish cleaning station in at Sandy Point. Guaranteed it would serve double duty as a diaper changing station. Glad they never put it in. Regardless, SPSP is a no go zone for me. Total buzz kill coming in to that shit after a nice day out on the water.

Any body caught poaching period, should loose their privilege's for life along with hefty fines. No quarter.

Losing the privilege means nothing to those who are breaking the law to begin with. They just do it again. A couple years ago don’t staked out the choptank fishing pier and issued citations. They caught them with rockfish hanging under a manhole cover. In one case as they had a car carrying men and fish to go across the bridge to a safer spot, they were tossing fish out the windows to get rid of them. Jail time and high fines may help but judges seem to be complicit. All those cited I spoke of were also Hispanic. It’s not racist, it’s criminal no matter who you are.

I will tell you what is unbelievable, it is this thread itself. Alas, mostly old white men on this chat board though, so it is to be expected.

I notice a pattern too, way too many people do not know how to use a ruler and kept undersized fish.

OP - you are hilarious though. I have represented several "white" people on DNR infractions, some of them with guide licenses. Knew a white guy that was a guide on the Eastern Shore until the feds busted him for allowing his clients to shoot well over the limit. He had to open a sporting clays range to continue to pay the bills. Believe he was a retired Maryland State Trooper, but don't quote me on that.

When I was charged for hunting doves over bait back in 1995, it made the Washington Post. The names in the article, 13 in total, sounded like the mafia drove down from New York to go dove hunting on a fellow mafioso's farm.

I've sat in court on game violation days, and the majority of those charged are NOT Hispanic.

The pattern I notice is that a few people on here take great pleasure in posting game violation articles when the names within said articles are mostly Hispanic. Just a select few.

Pretty sure I can find plenty of DNR announcements showing people with "white names" abusing our natural resources.

Here we go, the list of commercial fishermen in Maryland that have had their licenses revoked/suspended this year for violations:

    https://dnr.maryland.gov/fisheries/Documents/Commercial_SuspensionsRevocations.pdf

Most sound like white guy names, and I guarantee you that these commercial fishermen are having a much larger impact on "our" resources than a bunch of Hispanics fishing from the shore or small boats.

Alas, some people on this board just do not understand the big picture and focus on the small optics that they understand and a certain set of people that they despise.

Somewhat amazing how many father/son combos there were, and even appears to be a father, son, grandfather combo. Doubt they would have been violating the law for generations and generations.

Also, they aren't having their licenses revoked for one or two fish here and there.

Especially when more than a few are present, the checks are land based, and other fisherman are in the same area.

I honestly have no idea how your response even applies to what I wrote in your quote.

Don't think I ever said Hispanics are "overlooked", or looked over more closely, by DNR. I am pretty sure that DNR checks everybody when they are in an area for spot checks. I have been through my fair share of spot checks. Been stopped on the water too.

I think the perturbance is less about the poaching but more so about the legal status of residency in this country/state.

Yeah, and the bias shows too. Not a single person with a Hispanic name in those articles was said to be here illegally. Just a lot of biased people ASSUME that they are here illegally because they have a Hispanic sounding name.

I can only imagine what my parents had to endure with their Italian names when they immigrated here in the 50s. I noticed some derogatory stuff sent their way by people when I was growing up, but that was after they had been in the country for 20+ years, knew how to speak English, and had become citizens. My mom worked as a legal secretary at Richard Nixon's law firm. Hard to believer they gave a job like that to an "illegal".

Pretty sure my dad took work away from some "Americans" because he worked pretty cheap and had three sons helping him for sandwiches, Coke, and Snickers.

Good thing those names aren't Muslim sounding though. We would have to worry about terror bombers instead of job stealers.
