Didn’t see anything this afternoon until 10 minutes or so before sundown. Then 1-2 at a time emerged, seeing a total of 9. Watched two bucks sparring just before dark. Losing light and couldn’t see the size, they were about 150 yards away. A few times I heard their antlers clashing.

Went out this morning. Saw nothing. It was a cold windy one. So went to TSC and got artic socks and heated insoles for afternoon hunt. Afternoon hunt was the same. Saw nothing. Heard 2 shots in distance. Hunting the Upperco area.

My daughter caught this guy trying to sneak out of the bedding area an hour before sunset. 6.5 Grendel and he didn't go ten yards and the heart was ripped in two just about.

Took a pair of young does at first light. Deer were everywhere in fields 30min prior to shooting light viewing through a thermal. Those 2 stuck around long enough for me to get enough light to make a shot. They arent very big but should provide excellent table fare.

Your daughter is one heck of a deer hunter Rob. Congrats to her and everyone else on their opening day successes. :)

WV or Maryland? Driving home last night from soccer, I came home to 2 does in my front yard. Heard only a single shot yesterday while out putting up Christmas lights. Tons of deer poo in my front yard.

Congrats to everybody yesterday, whether you killed one or not. Great enough accomplishment just getting out there and hunting.

Nice harvest! Should be tasty on the table.

My dad sat all day seen 8 does in different groups in the morning. Than had 2 hunters drive thru the neighbors cut corn field and walk the field edge looking to put up stands at 1pm on the 1st day? He didn't see anymore deer after that. I sat most of the day on my farm. Ended up seeing 8 does, 2 bucks, 3 turkeys, 3 foxes, 2 woodpeckers fighting and a groundhog. This guy came out of the standing corn at 4:10 that ended my day.
