Plan D? Not worth the hassle.
As I have said, and sorry to beat this to death reason is not a prevalent or valued skill among our countrymen. Moreover we have not the time to either decry or remedy this fact.

The fight is now. Thus we must learn the tools of persuasion that will work now. While a message delivered with a smile, is often more pleasing, better still if the smile is unnoticed in preference to the bikini clad model.

    To the main point :

I believe that the only reason " If the glove don't fit , you must acquit " has any force at all is that it rhymes.

Consider the rational brain analysis, which few apparently do:

    1. the gloves are made of leather
    2. When leather gets wet and dries without due care it shrinks
    3. Blood is mostly water
    4. The gloves had blood on them, hence the term bloody gloves
    5. They may have shrunk and likely did.
    6. They should no longer fit
    7. The gloves are in no way dispositive and may be irrelevant.

BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MAKES SENSE.

Rhyme and meter are a sophists dream. We ignore them at our peril. As we tend to be rational ,we think others are or at least should be, but they are not.

So while a logical argument is a good start, it is in no way sufficient. We must pay attention to how our argument sounds as well. We can only win if we are logical and also persuasive.

In time, perhaps we can teach our fellows to think, but for now we need to win. To win we need to fight the battle we are in, not the battle we want to be in.

    Trying my best - really:

The rifle I own, is just a firearm.
But the Bill of Right,s you must not harm.

True mental health, is the goal
if you really want, gun control

Re-election we know, is your goal
Remember this when, you vote for gun control

These bills we all know, are for nothing but show
and to the White House, he really wants to go!

If it's common sense we want , to rule the day
then just enforce the laws, is all we say

10 rounds or less, will not change
the number of bullets, that go downrange

The Governors gun plan, we will remember,
when the time comes to vote, in November.

It's not for children's safety, that much is clear
to keep the child safe, we must not shoot deer.

If a law must pass, then at least
You write the law, not the State Police

Shall not be infringed, so the law reads
You took an oath, and such you must heed.

30 round mags, make a great bench rest
when you enter, a 3 gun contest.

Plea-bargain is fine, when used in rhyme
but should not be allowed, for a gun crime

Pass these useless laws, the Governor did propose
what's he really thinking, do you suppose

We are not fools, we have children too
we want our kids safe, just like you

For all good law makers, just like you
common sense is not, what these laws do

Your vote now, we will remember
When our turn comes, in November

It only takes a day, to become a Democrat
we will work to vote you out, easy as that

Different Guns are used to hunt, this is what they say
that it is not the truth, it's as plain as day

We must save the children, that is their cry
These will not do that, children will still die

It doesn't have to rhyme, either. The phrase I'm using is "Olympic gun ban". Which it is, if you look closely.

my email that went out saturday night used some of the data you provided

Titled something like - a vote for sb0281 is a vote against the olympics :)

You might be interested in throwing this in - kinda fits with your theme

I like the effort. But I mean we need to consider how it sounds not be dominated by it.

I also think Children will still die is a bad way to end a slogan.

    I am thinking like

I sense were common, there would be no gun laws, and criminals do not commonly comply.

But I see potential in some of yours.

    Here are some issues.

People are emotionally overwrought on this issue. So we want to trivialize the proposed solutions but not the problem.

Phrases like bullets downrange are funny to us, but bring up really bad associations. In others.

Imagine that you only associate guns with violence like many do and read bullet s downrange again.

Our opposition suffers from tone deafness when they say stupifvthings like " buy a shotgun ... shot the air scare them off".

But we can not afford that.

    Keep thinking..

I try to use a Dr Seuss rythum because people have good associations with it.
