I think the most powerful message we can send the current politicians is that we're going to stay here in MD and register Democrat so we can vote in the primaries and do everything in our power to prevent their ongoing careers.

Marine Infantry protocol is that even in an ambush you face the attacker and rush them with all you have. Retreat is never thought of nor tolerated.

Im in this for the long haul.....

I agree with not giving up. On the flipside though, moving to the right state can add US Senate and Rep seats in our favor. On a national level, the votes of freedom loving Marylanders go to waste here and could be more tactically useful elsewhere. On the state level we can still affect some change. Being that the fight appears to be on a state level at the moment, it's best to stay put for now.

In response, thats very nice and all.......it sound very heroic, but tell that to Beretta, or any other gun manufacture to stay in a state that clearly violates the 2nd amendment. I see many answers of it does nothing, or it will empower them? Empower who exactly? The liberals? I guess no one has noticed they DO what THEY want to do. Its not about the fight or giving up, its about making my TAX dollars effective in a PRO state. Just in case some of you haven't got it yet the lines are being drawn..........theres a bigger picture here, states are lining up to negate federal law HELLO!!!! that means FIGHT that comes down to threats YES.....wow.

So yes if I am able to I will in fact move, I don't have to be IN Maryland to FIGHT with Maryland. These states are crumbling to media hysteria. Let me ask you all, has any of the GLENDENING idiotic laws been over turned? You know the ones where Clinton came down during the signing? Remember that? almost a defacto ban on hand gun sales. We talk about changing the guard but when it changes oddly enough those laws still stay.

NO ONE is giving up, its a matter of yes making a financial impact liberal or not IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

I am fighting tooth and nail. Every morning while drinking my coffee, i shoot off letters to every member of the legislature. I was unable to attend in Annapolis, but was there in spirit with all of you that did. I had planned on moving before all of this started. My fiance's family lives in NC and she wants to be closer to them, so we have been looking at central/southern VA for more than a year now, its just now starting to come together with my job. I am not surrendering. I will not surrender.

Should we lose this fight, it will spread like cancer.

It's far easier to defend ground than it is to retake it. There's nothing the O'Malletheadtoids would prefer than the 2A radicals cutting and running on the first volley. We can't all fit into Texas.

We need to start planning our counter-attack now. We rocked the boat on Feb 6th and if we get bigger numbers on the 1st, many will be thinking twice. But we need to be scaring the ones that are set in stone. What do you think someone like Frossh would be thinking if his staffers were telling him that the movement that put 5000 people in Annapolis, on short notice, on a work day were planning to put that many people in HIS district, knocking on doors, campaigning AGAINST him.

He told us he would take his chances at the poles because he knows most of people that vote for him don't know what he's doing. We need to educate them.

If forced to choose between giving up my guns or becoming a criminal I will remove my offending firearms from the state to follow ASAP. If I am going to be a criminal it will be for a lot more than exercising my Civil God Given Rights.

I think we all understand the citation. And the choices. This thread is only about pointing out that it is not strategic to announce to our opposition exactly what we will or will not do.

I am mystified by the need to provide such Intel to our opposition. We are too clever for that.. I think you intend to misdirect, with disinformation. I applaud your efforts, but what if they don't get that you are just spreading disinformation :)

    Got this response today:

I would like to thank you for taking the time to write and share your thoughts with me on the anti-gun legislation before us this session. As I am sure you know, the Judicial Proceedings Committee had its hearing on SB 281, on February 6, 2013.

Those who came down to Annapolis that day to attend the rally and to testify against the SB 281 were nothing short of amazing. In all my years in Annapolis, I have never witnessed so many people as compassionate about their rights as citizens, their willingness to do whatever it took to be there, and then waiting for many long hours for the opportunity to testify.

It was quite obvious that the leadership in Annapolis was not prepared for the hundreds and hundreds of people wanting to speak before the Committee. I totally disagreed with cutting testimony off at 9 p.m. and only allowing those who had waited so patiently to give their name, where they lived and their position on the bill. Everyone should have been allowed their time to express their feelings towards these bills, even if it meant going well into the night or the early hours of the following day.

Many of the Marylanders I have heard from are well aware of my long standing position to protect our Second Amendment rights. For those of you who may not know me, I want to assure you that I am opposed to any and all legislation that infringes upon your Second Amendment right to bear arms. My record is clear on this issue as I have never voted in favor of any “anti-gun” legislation.

Please be watchful of the House crossover bill HB 294. As of February 8, it has not been scheduled for a hearing.

I will be working non-stop to defeat the Governor’s bills. Thank you for fighting the good fight with those of us who support the Second Amendment.

    Sincerely,
    Senator Nancy Jacobs

For those who've read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" I ask, what would John Galt do? For those who haven't read it, you need to. I cant summarize an entire novel in a post but the book provides a lesson in dealing with socialist tyranny of the majority. The lesson, at some point you need to be willing to walk away because by staying, and continuing to pay taxes, fees, etc., your feeding the beast that's trying to destroy you, and therefore you're part of the problem, not the solution. The main character in the book refuses this suggestion and vows to stand and fight as 1 by 1 her peers begin to walk away, until finally she sees the light, teaching us that we'll all come to this conclusion on our own time table.

The real solution is to let the state collapse under its own weight as we see happening in places like Detroit, Chicago, California, etc. Unfortunately things have to get worse before the masses wake up and demand real change. I plan to help that process along by removing my tax money from the state asap.

This is by no means a criticism of those who wish to stay and fight. Personally I've just changed the way I look at my relationship with government. I no longer see citizen/government, instead it's customer/business. I view the taxes I pay as a fee for services. Currently I'm dissatisfied with the services I'm receiving. I've called, I've written, and the problem hasn't been corrected. As a result I've decided to take my business elsewhere. If it's a win for the anti's to take 10's of thousands of dollars out of the MD economy, so be it. After enough "wins" and tax increases maybe people will wake up.

When it is time to retreat, it is still foolish to announce intent.

As the bill has not yet passed perhaps we can defer defeatist talk until after we have lost. There will be time enough then.

How about this; we can win and leave anyway....

And know this as well, failed states have a way of going zombie. They pollute their neighbors with decay. What would MD be with out the capital of urban blight -- Baltimore.

You also have early warning once the MD homes get their midnight visits by the confiscation police.

I don't think it's a good idea to tell any politician that you intend to move even if that is in fact what you intend to do.

If I move, it will be to nova since I still work in PG county. I will not register my guns or get a license to own what I purchased legally. 75% of my family still lives in MD and I'll still fight to change it so I can move back.

I have been chastized, stigmatized, looked down on, outcast and even fired from a job because I own firearms. Now I'm a gunsmith and this is my livelihood. I have lived in western PA and spent a lot of time in VA, and I don't get the same treatment there. I'm looked up to and people want to talk to me because they want to talk guns. Here, outside of my small circle of friends, it's a battle to prove I'm not a wacko gun nut. I have had family events turn into heated debates where libtards make me feel like I don't even belong in the room. I've had dates or potential dates ruined once the subject of guns comes up. I'm only 28... but I'm tired of it.

This shit os really a drain on me and this is my last stand here in MD for a while. I'm done being in it for the long haul if these assholes like Frosh get their way. It should be obvious to them that most people don't want the laws to change. Violent crime in MD has been on the decline... there's no crisis here.

I'm sorry for those of you stuck here, and I'll do what I can to help the fight in MD, but it's becoming a quality of life issue. I can't even get a damn carry permit in MD... and that says a lot. I did have one here but you know how that goes with all the restrictions...

Why can't I plan to move (more for economical purposes) AND continue the fight? I planned to move out of MD long before all of this started happening..

Me too. My family was setting things up to move anyway. The wife's job has frozen salaries for the last five years and there are pastures greening up on the horizon in her profession. My career dictates either this area or the west. I prefer the west. Our house purchase was bought to sell or rent in a few years anyway. Its mostly economical but this does influence the decision.
That being said, I have at least another couple election cycles in MD to stick it to the ones who vote for these bills. I believe a swing state instead of Texas would nationally be the best bang for one's voting influence buck. Oregon has some pretty good gun laws.

The point of this excersise, this thread, is not to argue the matter.

We can each make our decision. But the pols are lurking here.

And if Frosh can say, don't worry they can't hurt you in the election they are all leaving ... well guess what that's not good for us.

It does not even matter if its true. All.he needs to do is convince them it might be true....

Is your need to vent so pressing that you hurt the cause?

Please think. After the vote you can vent it will no longer matter...

And to the GA : we have many new converts to the cause, do not think they who leave will not be outnumbered by this influx.

You have succeeded only in making moderates and fence-siters into activists. And yes even farmers and hunters.....
