That’s a beauty Joe.
Just picked this up today...1977 Colt Python. I wasn't out looking for it...was at The Machine Gun Nest when a more mature gentleman (at my age I classify anyone older than me as "more mature")...was there with several handguns he was trying to get values and maybe a buyer. He decided it was time to let them go...understandable. He had a Colt 1911A1 from 1943...if it had ever been issued it didn't look it. He also had this Python and a Walther PPK .32ACP he bought in 1962 after seeing "Dr. No". I was interested in the PPK more than the Python...it was still NIB. I'm not very conversant on PPK values so I wouldn't commit to buying it until doing some research once I got home. It turns out his asking price very nearly theft once I saw prices. I contacted him right away...he had already found a buyer...my loss. I kept thinking about the Python...after a week or so I contacted him again and he still had it and we made a deal.
I didn't go after the 1911A1 as they're a real specialty and I'm not prepared to drop the money on something I don't know enough about. I did find him a buyer for it plus a stainless Python he had.
This Python is about as pristine as it can be...he purchased it new and said it only has eighteen rounds through it...and it looks like he was telling me straight and not some story. It has the box and paperwork including the Colt sight adjuster. The Colt Royal Blue looks a foot deep...too bad my photographic skills (or lack thereof) can't show the finish to best advantage.
Here's my Python family...upper left is a 1960 nickel plated example...middle is this 1977 blued...and the right rear a 2020 stainless Python. On the bottom is a 4" electroless nickel version called Royal Coltguard and a blued snubby.
Wife wants something double action and 22. Loves my single six but wants another. As usual a fantastic offering Bob

I get that. I was using a photographic light box...it's supposed to even out the light and reduce shadows...but my skills just aren't good enough to make necessary adjustments in the exposures. The Royal Blue just doesn't show off the way it should.
Random pics of my Colt Frontier Scout for which I'm deciding which grips I like more.
I think i like the bottom grip. Love the grain
Security Six, 1976
Just purchased a Ruger SP101 .357 Mag
I'm down to just the 3 right now.
The Security Six, the S&W Highway Patrolman, and a cheapo Heritage Rough Rider I acquired as a partial trade some time ago.
My humble collection.
