I suppose it would be against the law to challenge the sponsor and co sponsor to mono a mono armored combat. I fat, old and in ill health, but I would be willing to armor up for a few last bouts.

You could challenge them, and likely beat them, in a game of checkers. Or maybe even tic-tac-toe

When I leave, I will likely keep my 6 rentals, plus rent out my current home, so there will be a net loss of revenue for the state. Yes, I will still pay property tax, but the net effect will be a loss for MDs tax coffers. And I shall blow them a kiss.

And when you wish to sell that property md will withhold your proceeds until you pay large penalties...

I hit the brakes on moving to Va, and was glad....for a minute. AAAAgh!! Now Md is back at it. Darn, I was hoping to stay in this area to keep my existing customers. At this rate, Ill be meeting new ones, maybe in West Va.

So is it grandfathering in if bought before a certain date plus registration? Or just a 3 year delay to ultimate confiscation? I know that’s their overall plan in general, just trying understand this headache of a bill.

So the $290+ fees are donations towards the confiscation fund?

reminded me to renew MSI membership anyway.

That's the way I am reading the bill too. the $290 fee does not kick in until January of 2021. If the bill passes on October 1, 2020 then that gives you 3 months for anyone that plan to comply to stay on the legal side of the law.

My question is this.... will the registration scheme be up and running in time to actually re-register our already legal firearms before January 1, 2021? Also, Since I filled out a 77r on a lot of guns anyway, do I still have to re-register them? Is the registration process going to be so swamped that it will be impossible to get them registered before January 1, 2021? This part if confusing to me.

Re-registration. There will only be a backlog if there is compliance. We will hang separately if we do not hang together.

And on top of ALL this, it's an Olympic Target Pistol ban. The business about "no magazine outside the grip" affects about 75% of the high-end target pistols.

Breakdown from the 2014 ISSF World Championship (the last I have information on):

    Men's Rapid Fire Pistol
    Pardini SP RF - 72% - BANNED
    Pardini SP - 10% - BANNED
    Match Guns MG2 - 9%
    Izh-35m - 3%
    Morini CM-22 - 2% - BANNED
    Match Guns MG2E - 2%
    Walther GSP - 1% - BANNED
    Hammerli SP20 - 1% - BANNED

    That's 86%!

Now let's turn to Women's Sport Pistol

    Pardini SP - 52% - BANNED
    Feinwerkbau AW-93 - 18%
    Walther SSP - 11%
    Morini CM22 - 5% - BANNED
    Benelli MP90S - 4% - BANNED
    Walther GSP - 4% - BANNED
    Match Guns MG2 - 2%
    Hammerli SP20 - 1% - BANNED
    Izh-KhR-30 - 1%
    FAS 603 - 1%
    Izh-35m - 1%

So the women are slightly better off...with only 66% of the guns banned.

    This is obscene.

Somehow, I don't see a $2,000 .22 target pistol as the sort of thing used to rob liquor stores in Baltimore.

Even just basic pistols...my m&p45 has a threaded barrel. My sp22m3 has a threaded barrel. The cz-52 will shoot through body armor. Apparently those are all banned "assault pistols".

Your decision, but be aware, you're not taking any tax revenue with you. Someone else will buy your house and they will have similar income level and pay similar taxes.

Now, if you were to keep your house in Maryland, then you would deprive the state of income tax.

As for me, my wife and I plan (sometime) to leave here and the house will go to the kids (hopefully) who will not have any income = major major real estate tax credit.

Send that someone who will buy my way. I live in a quiet area with good neighbors. I’m 100% serious.

So it’s initially a registration that will finally culminate in a ban come 5/1/2023? So we have 3 years to get rid of them - is that it?

Nope, once registered, they are grandfathered. Can't buy new ones after Oct 1, 2020 though.

So, I read this entire thread and my only thought is when do we go to Annapolis and make a stand to keep our civil rights?

As I mentioned before - the bill is not currently scheduled for a hearing. There are trackers from various sources (mine is listed upthread) and anyone can sign up for emailed notices about any of the bills by going to the bill homepage and clicking the pushpin.
