I love shooting my Ruger MKII Target Model but my vision has declined to the point where I was not picking up the front sight very well. I didn't want to try my hand at removing the pinned front band that holds the blade sight as I knew I would leave evidence that I'd been there with a punch. Forget about doing the milling work for a red dot/RMR on the receiver.
I found a guy online that specializes in Ruger rimfire work and sent him my receiver and in a week (door to door) had it back with the work done. While I was sending a package of parts anyway, I had him replace the extractor on my MKII and 10/22 bolt. So if you don't have a good local gunsmith that you work with who isn't backed up with work, you might consider Dennis Wood at Sarona Gun Works. http://www.saronagunworks.com
