It's been 3 weeks and I finally got my answer. This is embarassing, a little on me, and a little on them:

The trigger group was having issues because the screws that hold the 2 halfs of the gun together were loose. I didn't notice any looseness that I would have considered excessive, but all they did was tighten them up for the repair. I`m disappointed that this minor tolerance issue can render the gun useless. I`ll be more aware now that I know, so hopefully this will help out others in the future.

    Still love the gun. 4/5

I just bought a used Gen 2, .40. Took it to the range today.

Charged it, aimed at my target, pulled the trigger and got a click. Primer, untouched. Second time, it fired. After that, all I got was a click with no mark on the primer.

Checked the screws, they are tight. Calling KelTec tomorrow.

    Annoying.

I had a gen 1 with the safety issue. I replaced the safety and it didn't really fix the problem. At the time, turn around from KT was several months, so I just put some tape on the safety and rolled with it. :D

Sometime, somewhere someone sells a verified name and address of a firearm owner on the dark web...

When shipping UPS / FedEx I have ALWAYS declared the item as either “machined parts assemblies“ or “paper punching tool.”

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I kinda wonder if the explanation they gave me was BS tho.

FYI: If you do send it down for warranty repair and want the trigger upgrade and have them install it, you have to buy it, and ship it down to them with the gun. My dumbass thought MCARBO was a division of Keltec and they had the parts available down there.

I have the G17 Gen 2 version. Never any issues, except these 2 screws were loose after emptying a few 33 round mags. I looked down and the receiver grip screw was noticeably protruding letting me know something wasn't right. I didn't know the forend screw was loose until I went over all of them after noticing the super loose grip screw.

Valuable piece of information! I thought they were entwined somehow.

Has it been 100% reliable since?

Spoke with KelTec support a few minutes ago.

Said it sounds like a firing pin issue. Recommended I give it a thorough cleaning and to inspect the pin itself to see what's causing the short strikes.

Trigger always resets and got a "click" with every trigger pull.

    Keep us informed what happens.

Got it all apart. Pushed the firing pin and it looks to not protrude very far from the bolt face.

Now I'm curious to see the protrusion on a well functioning Sub2k. I don't feel like taking apart my 9mm version but I may have to.

My wife just gave me the eye roll when she saw her kitchen island covered in gun parts. There's about to be more.

I looked at the bolt face on the 9mm. Functions the same as the .40.

The bright side is, my Mcarbo bits came in today. Installed them.

I bought one over the summer and finally shot it yesterday. Man what a miserable trigger on that thing. There’s absolutely nothing I like about it other than the ability to fold it down and conceal it. It has a purpose but shooting it for fun doesn’t seem to be it.

An elevated red dot makes a huge difference. I felt the same way when using the open sights....what an uncomfortable cheek weld.

M Carbo buffer tube cover and the heavyweight charging handle make a nice difference. As does an AFG.

I'm not a trigger connoisseur aside from recognizing a great trigger when I pull one. You're 100% correct tho.

Now it's one of my favorite range toys.....not the 40 yet.

The red dot is mounted on a UTG High Mount riser. It's like $10.

The sight I bought it an ATS.

Both are inexpensive but have held up well.

Buy the MCARBO trigger bar and it will make it 100% better.
