Congrats! When I read the CMP email yesterday, I wondered if if was an MDS member. Best of luck in getting her a scholarship for her skills.

Shannon rocks! I have shot a couple of Appleseeds with you both and she is really talented. She also has a great coach and mentor.

    Congratulations...also well done Dad!!

I have a 10 year old and I am desperate to help her find a passion in anything, so you definitely had a positive influence on that.

Also, mad props for SCATT trainer. Others on MDS have also raved about that tech, and your family has sold me on it as a legitimate training tool.

Thanks for sharing and I will pray and route for her.

I'm 99% sure that Amanda Elsenboss was shooting the same match I was last weekend.

Cool article and I wish your daughter many more X's.

How does one get a child involved in such a thing?
    Google
NRA and CMP High Power Rifle

Then search for local area matches.

Another idea is to get them to a Project Appleseed event, both junior and adult. That will get you an idea on the sport.

CMP holds Small Arms Firing School (SAFS) Clinics as well.

Just jump in with both feet, most competitors will be happy to help you along the journey.

Some of the clubs at AGC have juniors programs shooting small-bore and air-rifle. Some clubs also have a high power rifle team.

Howard, Frederick and Carroll County 4-H programs have shooting sports programs for youth. Howard County 4-H shoots small-bore.

As already mentioned, an Appleseed shoot is a good introduction. Shooting the army qualification target will give a good introduction to the positions and relays.
