DPMS compact hunter in .308 local dealers?

I'm the proud new owner of a DPMS AP4 .308 (Thanks Duffy's!). I LOVE this thing but does anyone know if the smooth handguard can be changed out? or is there another way to tac it out? For example putting on a bipod? Seems like it can't be done with this handguard, except for right under the... -
