What he said. With digital modes of signalling in the amateur radio bands a number of countries had already eliminated the requirement before the US. Morse code is however, very much still in use if you wish to learn it.

==> FREE TECHNICIAN LICENSE CLASS FEB 2-3

CARA will be holding a free, two day license class on Saturday and
Sunday, February 2 & 3. Classes will be held in:

Room 401
Gateway Building
6751 Columbia Gateway Drive
Columbia, MD 21046

Class sessions will begin at 8:00 each day and will end at
approximately 4:30 on both days. It is suggested that you bring lunch
both days, although there are restaurants in the area.

Reservations are not required.

The license exam, which is administered by the Laurel Volunteer
Examiners, is also free and will be held at 9:00 on Saturday, February
16 at the:

Laurel Woman's Club
384 Main St.
Laurel, MD

Further in formation on the exams will be provided during the course.

The Chief Instructor for this class will be Dan Wilt, N3YQ,
