I got my english black lab from an AKC breeder up that way.

Tell her Steve and Ozzie recommended them. If she doesn't have any upcoming litters, she is friends with other local breeders.

Say goodbye to quality sleep! Good luck.

English labs are definitely calmer and have a slightly wider head like the original St Johns dog that the breed was created from.

My spousal unit is a Veterinarian and she usually recommends the English breed... I believe it has to do with lower cancer rates or something and their disposition. I'll ask her.

We're a Newfoundland house... great dogs for kids, but they need a lot more care than a Lab.

We have a English. Awesome dog, great with our 1 year old. Sucks though as she at little over 2 has a hip replacement in her future. Had hip clearances going back couple generations but one shallow hind joint. Lover her though. Sweet as can be and too smart for own good.
