I came across Citori sporting 725 12ga 32'' in Bass Pro for $2699

I also came across Citori Crossover Target 12ga 32" for $1770

can't find much info on those.. why such a price difference?

does anybody know how they compare ? They are both Citori :)

The 725 is a Citori in name only IMHO. It has a lower wider frame than previous models and feels very different. They are sweet handling clays guns that feel more like a Beretta or a CG than a Browning.

The Crossover appears to be an evolution of the Special Sporting model with a higher POI. So it will have a taller narrower frame than the 725. It's a good gun but an old design. The target aspect comes, I guess, from it's high rib and 60/40 pattern which allows you to "float" the target above the rib. I don't care for 12 gauge Citori's and I really liked the 725 I shot, so that would be my choice of the two. Also, shooting a 60/40 gun is a challenge if you're used to field and low sporting ribs.

    thanks Steve,

I'm used to Beretta Silver Pigeon , and have handled 725 before. Since I shoot mostly trap , the higher POI would be perfect.

I like the blued receiver and glossy finish on the Crossover :)

I was actually looking for a Beretta gun when I came across the new Browning ( or a variation of the old)

will post pictures when i get it.

As stated, the 725 is unlike any previous Citori to date. If they didn't have such a brand/name recognition it may have actually benefited Browning to come up with something new.

There is a DEAL on a lightly used 725 on Shotgun World right now, $2150 shipped, comes with an isis recoil device installed. Essentially $3K worth of gun for ~$800 off (shipped)

You are losing the mechanical triggers, lower profile and likely future resale value of the newer model gun by not buying a 725.

    PJ all true,

but its almost $1000 difference and imho the Crossover looks better :))

725 Sporting looks like a slab of unfinished metal, this much is true. :o

If you are shooting all Trap, it makes sense I guess.

x25 Brownings have been around for a while. No idea why they decided to stick the Citori name on them.

My wife and I shoot Browning 325s from the early 90s.

The Crossover sounds like the right choice for you. In fact I've been thinking about the 20 gauge Special Sporting which reportedly shoots 50/50. Look forward to seeing some pics.

Browning has been (historically) behind in production, I see that of a sign of their popularity and volume of the builds.
