Took it apart to clean yesterday. Putting it back together did not realize I needed a dummy 44 mag round to to keep the extractor or ejctor in place so the bolt would close all the way.
Also the spring that surrounds a rod that runs along the bottom tang needs to be pushed back and have a paper clip put in a little whole. This proces allows the spring to have tension so as to be able to do other things. Anyway it is those 2 things. I of course will pay you for your time and hopefully you could be close to Towson. Oh and I dont want to wait 6 weeks but would not expect you to fix it on the spot. Help me. Bud

I wish I was closer and there wouldn't be any of that pay sort of thing.
This type of thing should I think should always be done for fellowship/partnering.

Anyway outside of all that, I'm sure someone nearby would be able to help you out.
If you cant get it done and you ever come across the bridge let me know and I can get it done for you.

Thank you for the offer DO. If nobody wants to do this 8.00 plus your time might just be worth it

I’ve been in a similar predicament and have been able to cut / shape a short length of the correct diameter aluminum or brass rod (even cut and whittled an oak wood dowel once!) to simulate the cartridge in question …

I realize these aren’t of any use to you until they can be delivered but, ahead of your next disassembly, MidWayUSA has had some pretty significant clearance pricing on all manner of action proving (“dummy”) rounds and snap caps - I check them at least weekly and have been able to snap up some pretty good deals on not just 44 Mag but also 30 Carbine, 30-30, etc., etc.:

Are you retired and flexible as far as time goes? If so, I would be willing to meet you at AAF&G in Annapolis and will fix your rifle. I have sold off all my .44 mag stuff so you have to bring your own spent case no charge. :D

Hey John that sounds great. The rifle is brand new and I have not fired it yet so i have no spent cases. I may just have to send away and get some dummy rounds. Please hold that thought though.

Don't bother. I just found a .44 Mag in my dummy round drawer. What is your availablity?
Hi again John. Monday or Tuesday morning when the place opens if you can do that. Not to question your gunsmithing abilities but that spring is going to be a challenge. I would hate to drag you out there and waste your time.

I'm fully aware of how strong it is. There are reduced power springs out there that make the gun easier to operate. If you want, I will bring a selection of springs to see if I have one that will work.

I sold off most of my parts when I quit gunsmithing but I would never get rid of my spring supply. :D

I can meet you there at 1000 Monday if that works out for you. Send me a PM and I will send you my cell number.
