Hi all, haven't been around in a while, hope y'all are doing well.

My wife inherited a Colt Single Action Frontier Scout 22 LR, see attached images. A quick google serial number lookup said it was manufactured in the 1960s.

At the surface it looks alright, but minor issues with the finish, rusting and\or pitting, you can see in the pics on the front sight and also on the right side (in pics where muzzle is facing right)

Looking for advice on cleaning it up. I normally use Eezox for protectant, but I'm not sure how well that plays with the materials (metal and or finish) of this. I also have Breakfree CLP & LP, Hoppees lube oil, and remoil (not a fan).

So, Eezox good to go for this or should I use something else?

    Thanks

Probably not what the experts would recommend, but I would probably use RemOil and if needed a light touch with a "greenie" soaked with RemOil.

Try rubbing it with the edge of a real copper penny with some CLP.
That's a trick my uncle showed me.

00 or 0000 steel wool and ATF fluid. You want to do as little damage as you can. think polish, not sand. Take it nice and slow. you just want to knock the rust off, not sand anything down. Trying to get the pitting out will do nothing but ruin the bluing.

the penny (or unhardened aluminum) trick works too, for knocking the rust off

Be advised that the frame is aluminum on these. A friend of the family had one of these, back when I was in my early teens. I wanted it so bad but, he would not part with it. Since then, I have had a number of Colt .22 Peacemakers but, never picked up an old Frontier Scout. This one looks pretty good for its' age! Doubt I would do much more than give it a really good cleaning. Once cleaned up, I have found that car wax does an excellent job of protecting blued surfaces.

Bronze wool is what you want to use if you go that route along with Kroil. I've used that to clean up some pitting/surface rust on firearms a whole lot worse looking that your photos show.
That said I'm with dist1646; I'd just clean it real good. I wipe my firearms with a silicone cloth before putting them away.
