Daytona Beach man arrested for open carry on his own property

Lots of BS and lies with some downright questionable behavior in fishing for damning quotes from a 6-year-old. Seems pretty clear FL state law exempts the ban on one's own property and business.

Makes me wonder how zealous some counties will be should MD's open carry ban stick.

If he was truly illegally arrested he will be a very wealthy man..Unlawful arrest is easily proven...I hope he lawyers up and doesn't accept the first offer the county (or state) throws at him..

The state always has some nebulous law on the books to charge someone that's been illegally arrested.

Disturbing the peace, failure to provide id, interfering with an investigation, interfering with the police by standing too close as you get handcuffed while being illegally arrested, loitering while walking on the sidewalk (sgt pope likes that one), the list goes on and on.

Not to mention civil forfeiture because the money you have on you isn't cross-referenced by serial number to a notarized bank receipt.

And it takes decades to get any retification from the courts.

I remember when open carry was a good thing because only criminals concealed carried... You can even see this in all the old westerns.

If the courts actually follow the rule of Text, History, and Tradition, Open carry is a given!
