A little known factoid: you can light a standard match, even a paper match, by using a car windshield as the striker. The friction induced heat will ignite the match.

Also works on a dollar bill.

Caution: doing this could leave a mark on the windshield, so be selective where you do this.

Those are the strike on box replacements not the strike anywhere kind, a big difference.

Writing on the box not so clearly says Strike Anywhere. Google shows them being available at Ace Hardware. Costello’s in Glen Burnie. Might be worth looking into if local to you.

I have a couple boxes of strike anywhere matches from over 20 years ago. Need to dig them out.

My Y2K stash wasn't sealed and don't work even striking on the box. Humidity is the culprit.
