Gun Model and Model Number

I was told by a gun shop employee that I don't have to worry about the gun model number anymore as long as the model name is on the handgun roster, and I was wondering if that were true?

I remember a memo stating something to that effect. Here is a screen shot and it has no model numbers.

It is true. Model Number was changed to Model Description. The change was made 2 years ago.
