I have a Remington 870 20ga that I want to use for deer hunting as well as for home defense. I am looking for a scope and scope mount for a newer Remington 870 20ga pump shotgun. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
I have a cheap Simmons 2-7 shotgun scope on my 20 ga H&R I bought for $75 at Dicks. Not very bright and doesn't track well but does hold zero and I've taken deer past 200 yards with it.
Put a 3-9 Nikon Prostaff in my Mossberg 500 rifles 12 GA and it works fine.
I'm a vortex guy at heart though. Have a 2-7 or 3-9 crossfire on my muzzleloader and I think that's the ticket.
I prefer rails that screw into the receiver, plus they only cost a few bucks. Issue is when you switch barrels. If you're hunting close range, can always just throw a red dot on it and call it a day for hunting or home defense. That should comfortably work to 100 yards with a nice reticle.
