Occasionally my Garand stops with the slide locked open, the clip still in the receiver and the 8th round just laying there. A little tap on the operating rod and the slide moves forward and chambers the last round. When fired the case is ejected, the clip pings out and the slide locks open as normal. I see a lot of info on the 7th round jam issue but nothing regarding the 8th round failure to feed. Any ideas?

Is there a chunk of thumb stuck in the action?

Is the trigger group fully seated in the stock? I know if its not in all the way, this can happen.

This doesn't sound like your issue, but the video is interesting.
Also, they found if en block clip loaded with top round on left seems to eliminate the 7th round stoppage. Again, this doesn't sound like what you are experiencing, but is interesting.

Hope you find the answer to your problem.
